I’ve spent years trying to make the best breakfast and that has not made any difference. My husband and I find ourselves constantly in a fight over our eating habits. We’re both always saying different things. He always says, ‘I love your oatmeal!’ while I say, ‘No one wants a bowl of oats on an empty stomach!’. Neither of us is wrong. But, we do know some foods are better for you than others. We’re just not sure what those foods really are.

In order to help with this battle, here are all of my favorite bad breakfast choices. If you don’t have something I listed, please feel free to add it to this list.

1) Egg whites / omelets/ poached eggs / pastries (white bread)

2) Granola bars / pretzels/ churros

3) Sugar-free cereal (no milk or sugar)

4) Gummy worms

5) Cheerios or mini donuts/ bagel (white bread)

6) Cereal flavored granola bars or chocolate pudding or cookies

7) Coffee

8) Creamy coffee

9) Cocoa & cocoa creamer

10) Chocolate powder/ barbitos

11) Peanut butter with no added sugar

12) Pastries with peanut butter

13) Popcorn without butter, oil, flour, etc.

15) Scrambled egg whites with cheese/ onion

There’s such a variety of bad and good breakfast options out there. The key is finding something that works for you and making the most nutritious choices. There are many ways to eat healthy, so let’s talk about some of these ideas. Some of them are great for weight loss and others may be unhealthy for some people. It’s not just a matter of what you eat, but how much food you put into your body. Eating well can lead to lower blood pressure and more energy throughout the day. A lot of research shows that healthy diets can reduce the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes. Your diet matters a lot. Healthy eating habits will also improve your emotional wellness and give you stronger bones – especially as you get older! Eat properly and your health will thank you.
