Hawaiian Ham and Cheese Sandwich

  • 4 King’s Hawaiian rolls (or any sweet Hawaiian rolls)
  • 4 slices of ham (preferably honey or smoked ham)
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese (or your preferred cheese)
  • 4 pineapple rings (canned or fresh, grilled if desired)
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon of poppy seeds (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Rolls:
    • Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves intact as a whole sheet.
  3. Make the Spread:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and honey until well combined.
  4. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    • Spread the mayonnaise mixture evenly on the cut sides of the rolls.
    • Place the bottom half of the rolls in a baking dish.
    • Layer the ham slices evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
    • Add the pineapple rings on top of the ham.
    • Place the cheese slices over the pineapple rings.
    • Cover with the top half of the rolls.
  5. Prepare the Topping:
    • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, poppy seeds, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix well.
  6. Add the Topping:
    • Brush the butter mixture evenly over the top of the rolls.
  7. Bake the Sandwiches:
    • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sandwiches are heated through.
    • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the tops of the rolls are golden brown.
  8. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let the sandwiches cool for a few minutes.
    • Slice the sandwiches along the roll lines to separate and serve warm.
